What's Open in Calgary to Buy Weed: A Comprehensive List of Stores

It’s been just over two weeks since 17 stores opened their doors to Calgarians eager to purchase recreational cannabis. Many of the operational stores listed above are very busy with customers and rightfully so. There is a limited selection of vendors who have received a license to operate in Calgary as of October 17th, 2018. Even though there is a limited number of retailers selling cannabis, this list will be updated weekly and should continue to grow and evolve over time. The demand for legal weed in Calgary is high and by keeping this post updated we hope it makes your shopping experience that much easier.

Shoppers Cannabis Co.

Shoppers Cannabis Co. is a brand new cannabis store located at 1400 Southland Dr SE. Customers have been very positive in their reviews so far and have suggested that this store is a great place to start if you are new to the cannabis purchasing experience. Shoppers Cannabis Co. offers 4 different strains of weed, one of which is a hybrid, and 3 different kinds of bud. They also have a wide selection of cannabis oils and edibles. Edibles are still not allowed to be sold in stores but are expected to be legalized sometime in 2019.

Marimari m's

The first of two Marimari m's locations that are open to the public is located at 102, 10 Avenue SW. This store has received rave reviews from customers; many of whom are praising the quality of service and wide selection of products. Marimari m's offers 5 different strains of weed and 3 different types of bud. They also have a significant amount of different cannabis oils and edibles available for purchase. The Marimari m’s brand is part of the MediPharm Labs family of products, who is responsible for creating Alberta’s first legal cannabis oil.

Green Leaf store

The Green Leaf store is located at 4610 Macleod Trail SW. This store has also received excellent reviews, although many of the customers that have visited have suggested that the store is often very busy and sometimes hard to get into. The Green Leaf store offers 5 different strains of weed and a single type of bud. They also have a wide variety of cannabis oils and edibles available for purchase. The Green Leaf store is operated by the same company as Hemp Roots, with whom they share a location.

Reefer Madness

One of the more unique cannabis stores in the Calgary area is Reefer Madness, which can be found at 106, 10 Avenue SW. This store was built from scratch to be a cannabis shop and is recognizable by its distinct architecture. Reefer Madness has received mostly positive reviews from customers, although many have suggested that there is a learning curve to shopping in this store. Reefer Madness offers 5 different strains of weed and 2 different types of bud. They also have a wide selection of cannabis oils and edibles available for purchase. Reefer Madness is the only store in Calgary that offers cannabis-infused gummies.

The chain reaction store is located at 4933 Macleod Trail SW. This store has received mixed reviews from customers, many of whom have complained about the quality of bud on sale or have been displeased with the service. This is the only chain reaction store in Calgary. Chain reaction offers 6 different strains of weed and 2 different types of bud. They also have a wide selection of cannabis oils and edibles available for purchase.

Hemp shop (coming soon)

The hemp shop, as the name suggests, is a store dedicated to hemp products. The hemp shop is expected to open at the beginning of November and will specialize in things like hemp oils, seeds, and other related products. No word yet on the specific products that will be available for purchase at this store.

Alberta cannabis store (coming soon)

The Alberta cannabis store is expected to open at some point in December. This store will likely be located downtown, although no specific details about the store have been released yet. With so many stores open and more expected to begin operations in the near future, now is a great time to learn about cannabis and figure out what works best for you. Whether you are looking to relax at home or have plans to go out, there are a variety of different products available. Remember to start low and go slow so you can determine what level of cannabis consumption is right for you.
